portfolio: now showing at The Glass Box Gallery

From 24th January 2008, The Glass Box Gallery is showing 3 exhibitions examining the shifting boundaries between the real and the virtual. A summary of these exhibtions is outlined below.

Gallery 1

Gallery 1 'The Order of Things' :
Showing a selection of fractal images from my recent placement with the Environmental Change Network. Fractals link with chaos theory and our most fundamental attempts to understand the 'real world', a world that underpins the virtual. Click on the images within the gallery to curate your own selection for the exhibition.

Gallery 2

Gallery 2 'Reality Loop' :
Take the teleport to the second floor. This video installation consists of a number of layers of real and virtual. Click on the large cube in the centre of the gallery to activate the video stream and walk into the centre of the cube. Once inside you will see a mirror, click on the mirror to view yourself.

Gallery 3

Gallery 3 'When Worlds Collide':
24th January to 24th June 2008 *THIS EXHIBTION IS NOW CLOSED TO CREATE SPACE FOR NEW WORK * . This work represents a virtual world reinterpretation of an earlier piece 'Portal'. Teleport to Gallery 3 which is 750 metres up in the air. IMPORTANT When you arrive, go into the 'World' menu at the top of your screen, go down to 'Force Sun' and click 'Midnight'. It's also important to reduce your draw distance right down to remove surrounding objects (instructions in the Gallery) . The Gallery will then effectively disappear and you will be surrounded by the SL night sky and interactive stars, click on these to hear audio collected by NASA space instruments and the Jodrell Bank Observatory. Compose your own soundscape as you move around. Audio courtesy of NASA, the University of Iowa and the Jodrell Bank Observatory.
