' We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars' (Oscar Wilde)
During
2004, Lorraine Berry was the resident artist at Astley Hall in Chorley,
Lancashire. The seventeenth century astronomer Jeremiah Horrocks observed
the 'Transit of Venus' whilst living in Chorley Borough. This phenomenon
only occurs every 120 years and occured again in June 2004. In celebration
of this event, Berry produced the Telescope Trail consisting of 52 sculptural
telescopes, each telescope containing an image produced by pupils of Holy
Cross High School.
